APPLE CIDER VINEGAR PRE SHAMPOO RINSE

I purchased the book The Knotty Truth by M. Michelle George which is packed full awesome information for anyone wanting to learn more about ALL types of locks. I liked that there was several natural recipes in the book so my first recipe was the ACV Pre & Post Shampoo Rinse. I'm not sure why it's called pre & post because the way the directions went you do the rinse before you shampoo.

This is a rinse that will remove soap scum mineral deposits and product buildup from the locks, while sealing the cuticle, leaving the hair shiny! The ACV rinse closes the cuticle because of it's low, acidic PH. This will remove soap scum and help to neutalize the hair to its preferred PH range. The vinegar will also help to control dandruff and oily hair while adding shine, softness and bounce to the hair.

Now I have seen people mix up a apple cider rinse in the sink and dip their heads in the sink filled with ACV...umm can we say messy.

So this is what I did after reading Knotty Truth.

Mix together in a 8oz spritz bottle

- 2 tablespoons lemon juice (15 drops) ph 2-3
- 1 pint of water PH 4-6 (will balance the vinegar & lemon)
1/4 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar

Spray mixture into the hair , massage and let it sit for 3 - 5 minutes. Rinse out with warm water. Shampoo the hair , and follow up with a conditioner.

I really like how my hair felt and it really did feel much cleaner than just shampooing. I will do the ACV rinse may be once a month to keep my locks clean from product buildup.

Check out the updo I rocked for Easter weekend!

I KNOW ITS BEEN AWHILE..BUT I HAVE PICS!

Okay so the bottom photo is where I tried to duplicate Ms. Kreyola's wrap up do. I thought it was a really cute style. The bottom photo is also before I re- colored my roots.
Oh Snap! my roots are no longer dark( top photos) but I paid a price because my ends became really frizzy from the color and I ended up cutting about 2 inches of locks off. I have now decided to lay off the color for about a year or so ( I'm 4 real this time!) I'm also going to look into the Organic Color Systems which is suppose to be a natural alternative to coloring without the harsh chemicals. I have tried Henna but it does not give me the color that I want.
I LOVE color but I want to have color without damaging my Sisterlocks...what's a girl to do?

HAPPY NEW YEAR NATURALISTAS & GENTS!

I hope that 2012 is starting off lock beautifully for you! I'm excited about this year because there will be many great opportunities coming my way. I'm thankful for my growing clientele and many of my clients have supported my business, helped me promote my business, or provided valuable & uplifting advice. So I say Thank You from the bottom of my heart!

I look forward to joining you on your Sisterlocks/Brotherlocks journeys!

Here is some New Year's Goals for Rocking your Locks from Locdlife

1. I will be patient.Whether you’re just starting your locs or you’ve had them for years and you’re just waiting for them to grow, be patient. For starters, allow your hair the proper time to loc. For hair growth, remember to nurture your loc garden and allow them do their own thing. A watched pot never boils, so be patient and enjoy the journey.

2. I will take care of my locs. There’s no other hair style that will tell on you than locs. If you care for them consistently, you will have head-turning, beautiful tresses that people will notice. If not, you’ll have a hot mess. Remember, everyday, you are a loc ambassador.

3. I will moisturize. Shampoo them regularly. Use hot oil treatments. Drink water. There’s nothing more discouraging than dry, dusty locs!

4. I will tie my hair up at night—every night.Other than moisturizing, this is the second most important thing you can do for your locs at any stage. Skip this every night, and your locs won’t only be dry, they’ll weaken and snap under the pressure. You’ve waited a long time for a beautiful head of locs. You paid your loctician a lot of money to get that maintenance. Now do your part! A silky, non-cottony scarf or a Loc soc will do. Tip: tie your hair up once you get home. You’ll start your bedtime routine early.

5. I will switch it up.Try a curly style. Work an updo. Rock loc jewels. Accessorize. Try a rinse or a mild color if you’ve been thinking about it. If you’re bored with mature locs, doing this will keep yours—and others—interest.

6. I will nourish my locs (and my body) from within. You are what you eat. Drink plenty of water. Eat foods rich in omega fats like salmon. You can even take vitamins. You only live once. You should do it in optimal health, not only for your locs, but for you.

7. I will express myself.Locs are the ultimate expression of your hair’s natural essence. If you’re thinking about locs, and they work with your lifestyle, go for it!

My good friend Shirlene owner of Go Natural 24/7 was in the building.

IT'S MY 4 YR SISTERLOCKS BIRTHDAY! YAY!

It's so amazing how time flies! My Sisterlocks are still on a wonderful journey. I took pictures of my locks after washing to show the length. My locks started uneven so it doesn't surprise me that my locks are still uneven! My locks seem to grow on the sides faster than my mid section. So I will eventually cut my locks to make them even some time down the road.

I'm looking forward to year five and cant wait to compare my growth.

You can check out my 3 year pictures in the archives marked November 2010.

I FOUND A MAN WITH AWESOME LOCKS IN OKC!!!

Ok it's not how it sounds... I mean I bumped into a guy with long locks here in Oklahoma City! Let's call him "Mr. Locks"

I happened to be out eating Sunday brunch with family and our waiter comes walking up but this is not what made me do a double take! It's when he turned around to get the drinks my eyes and mouth popped wide open lol. My family knew what I was looking at because I'm all about the locks.

When he came back I asked him how long has he been growing his locks? Mr. Locks stated he had them since he was a little kid. He always had his locks and he has NEVER cut them! Mr. Locks also said he does NOTHING.... his locks just lock up on it's own. No palm rolling & no twisting here.

BTW he was a awesome waiter and we gave him a awesome tip ;-)

Michael Jackson's Immortal World Tour Premiere

After watching this preview of the MJ Immortal World Tour I was blown away. I have VIP tickets to see the show in Las Vegas at the end of the year and I can't wait!

I'm already a Cirque du Soleil fan as I have already seen the Mystere, Zumanity, and Alegria. So I know how awesome these show can be but after reading the reviews I believe this MJ Cirque du Soleil production is a showstopper!
