NATURAL HAIR JOURNEY

Great video of a young lady's natural hair journey. She starts with long relaxed hair then to the transitioning phase, then does the big chop, to finally a head full of beautiful healthy natural hair. This video reminds me of my journey before getting Sisterlocks. Check out the great styles in the video too!

Baby Girl Sisterlocks

When I seen this picture I thought how blessed this little girl was to start her natural hair journey at such a young age. She will not have to feel a chemical burn from a "kiddie" perm. She won't have to sit and have extensions braided into her hair. She wont have to sit through a Color Purple detangling and combing session. She wont have to feel the burn of a hot comb touching her ear or neck. She will grow up with a healthy head of natural hair! I wish more parents would go this route with their children. I have had little girls ask to have hair like mine but their parents tell them no because " it's permanent". I think sometimes it's the cost of Sisterlocks that scares the parent away! I honestly think Sisterlock's are worth the price when you compare it to a repeated cycle of hair loss & breakage. One day I would like to see more little girls with perm free natural hair. :-)

Naturally UniQue Beauty Of The Month

Meet Diane she is the Naturally UniQue Beauty for the month of April! I have truly enjoyed having her as a client. Matter a fact I consider her a friend who always has a smile when we meet. Diane came to me with 1 1/2 to 2 inches of natural hair which made her the shortest Sisterlocks I have installed. As the months went by her locks were on the grow and now Diane loves trying new accessories and roller setting her hair! Check out what she has to say about her Sisterlocks!

1. How long have you had your Sisterlocks?

I have had my sister-locks since July 25, 2010. I am loving my sister-locks journey more and more everyday.

2. Why did you decide to get Sisterlocks?

I decided I was tired of paying to have have my done and either the same day or a few days later it would poof or puff up because of the humidity and I would have to wear a wig.I ranned into a young lady at Sears one afternoon and she had sisterlocks and I was sold I went home and went on line to check it out. Made my first consultation June 19 2010. I have the best Certified Sisterlock Consultant there is.

3. What do you know now that you wished you knew before getting Sisterlocks?

I wish I had found out about sisterlocks about 5 years earlier. (FYI)Sisterlocks are "low maintenance" "NOT NO MAINTENANCE"

4. How many loc's do you have?

My daughter and granddaughter counted my locks shortly after I got them installed I have exactly "331" Beautiful sisterlocks.

5. How often are your retightenings?

I have my sisterlocks retighten as scheduled by my consultant every 4-5 weeks like clock work I do not miss an appointment I have had to reschedule once due to my work schedule.

6. What products do you use on your Sisterlocks?

I use the Naturally UniQue hair spritz made by my sisterlock consultant and Sisterlock Starter Shampoo.

7. What does your husband think about your Sisterlocks?

My husband wasn't to sure what to think at first because he has always liked long hair on me. In November 2009 I did the Big Chop. He's liking them now that they have grown from the baby stage to the teenage stage.(lol)

8. What is your advice to someone who is thinking about getting Sisterlocks?

My advice to anyone considering sisterlocks I would say do a thoroughly research to know for sure that is really what you want for your hair. They can be taken out "BUT" I saw sisterlocks as a permanent solution hairstyle for me.I can style my hair in so many different styles and I am still in the teenage stage so I have so many great possibilites when they are fully grown and locked (just cant wait). So if you are not completely sure about sisterlocks I would not advise on getting them as of now. Do your research do your homework talk to someone that has traveled that path. Go on line google, blog, read and find out about sisterlocks do the research. Sisterlocks has been around since the early 90's Check it out!

Girl Where Are Your Curls & Crinkles???

As I posted before I prefer wearing my locks in curls & crinkles. Even though when I wear them straight I can see the length plus the uneven layered look. Actually I have a Nicki Minaj think going on! My sides are long but the back is short. You can kinda tell here in the pics where the gap is showing in the mid section. I pull all the hair back so it's not too noticeable. The back of my hair is trying to play catchup ( the middle rests on my shoulders while the sides almost reach my mid back.) I guess when I did my big chop my hair was uneven and the fact that my hair grows slower in the back ( yes I was the baby with the bald spot on the back of my head!) which causes the uneven length. It's cool though eventually my hair will one day be the same length and that's why I love my Sisterlock Journey! :-)
